“Glory to God, peace on earth and goodwill to all”
This was the theme of the Carol Service held on 17th December 2017.
A carol written by one of the Church Members was sung by a group from Edward Street, “Angels sing your songs of Glory.”
Advent candles were lit.
The Chiltern Singers sang “Love came down at Christmas”, “On Christmas night all Christians sing”, and “It’s in the giving”
Passages from the prophets and the Gospels telling the story of the birth of Jesus were read. There were three short messages, applying the theme to the world, our society and ourselves. A collection was taken for donations to Crisis at Christmas.
Prayers were written on strips of paper and formed into a prayer chain.
Afterwards there were mince pies and sausage rolls and tea and coffee.
It was a delightful and uplifting occasion.
