Edward Street is part of the Heartland Group, comprising eleven congregations across an arc northwest of London from Welwyn Garden City to Dunstable. Within the Group there are three clusters of Churches –
St Albans – Greenwood Church, Homewood Road URC & Trinity URC
Mid-Hertfordshire – Harpenden URC, Welwyn Garden City United Church, Wheathampstead URC
Luton & Dunstable – Bury Park URC, Edward Street URC, St Katherine’s Church (URC & Anglican), St Ninian’s URC, Wigmore Church (URC & Methodist).
Each cluster is served by a stipendiary pastorate minister.
The group enables mutual support and sharing of resources. A steering group, comprised of the pastorate ministers and representatives from each church, meets regularly to consider the life of the churches in the group and to support applications for grants. A small ministry team of ordained and lay worship leaders meets to encourage sharing of resources and new ideas and the Links Team, passionate supporters of working together from each church, meet to share news, co-ordinate joint events and plan the group prayer diary.
